“No one can undo America’s progress on clean energy: Biden

US President Joe Biden on Sunday praised his administration’s “clean energy revolution” during a visit to Brazil’s Amazon, adding, referring to newly elected President Donald Trump, that “no one can reverse it.”

“It’s true – some may try to deny or delay the clean energy revolution underway in America. But no one – no one – can undo it,” Biden declared in the city of Manaus.

Biden, who was on a farewell tour of South America before handing power to Trump in January, is the first sitting US president to visit the Amazon region.

The 81-year-old flew over the rainforest by helicopter, visited a museum at the gateway to the Amazon and met with indigenous leaders.

He took the opportunity to promote his record on fighting climate change despite Trump, a climate skeptic, promising to drill for fossil fuels upon his return to power.

‘People, we don’t have to choose between the environment and the economy. We can do both. We proved it at home,” Biden said.

“I will leave my successor and my country a strong foundation on which to build if they choose.”

Trump will take over from Biden as US president during the inauguration ceremony on January 20.
