The Dutch Volta Energy has launched a 15 kVa hybrid solar generator with integrated biodiesel for construction sites and water pump installations. It is the latest in its line of rental systems that range in size from 6 kVA to 120 kVA.

For example, the smallest is suitable for powering a security camera on a construction site, while larger units can provide electricity for power tools and water pumps in construction, and the largest can be used by film and TV production crews, outdoor festivals and event organizers. avoid conventional diesel fuel systems.

Demand for the portable power stations is growing and the company is expanding internationally, said Roel Bleumer, CEO of Volta Energy. “The market is looking up. We started with Great Britain and Germany this year and that is going well,” says Bleumer pv magazine.

According to the manufacturer, the 15 kVA hybrid model is typically used to power construction equipment or a powerful water pump. It integrates 3.14 kW of amorphous silicon solar panels, a 4 kW three-phase inverter, a 31 kWh battery plus a biodiesel generator for backup. Automatic start and stop are programmable, as is an ‘evening silence’ function.

The dimensions are 5.65 m x 2.2 m x 2.7 m with the PV panels folded and when unfolded it measures 5.65 m x 4.3 m x 3 m, with a weight of 2,000 kg.

There is also remote monitoring and energy management via a special app. There is one 400 V outlet and one 230 V outlet. According to the company, it is on a trailer that can be towed by an average van.
