SAS, a Taiwan-based manufacturer of solar energy bars and wafers, cells and modules, has announced plans to temporarily suspend production at its cell manufacturing facility in Yilan Province, on the northeastern part of the island.

The company said it would halt production at its solar cell factory in Taiwan from January 7 to February 4, following media reports indicating that weak demand in the solar sector led to the decision.

“SAS continues to have confidence in Taiwan’s high-quality, high-efficiency solar cells. We continue to promote growth in the Taiwanese solar market, while actively expanding international market opportunities,” the company said.

SAS has also been producing waffles at a factory in Chunan, Taiwan, since 2005.
