Developer from West Hartfold Verogy has completed a pair of rooftop solar installations at two FedEx facilities in Stratford (866 kW) and Middletown (2,075 kW), Connecticut. The projects are the first for FedEx in the state.

Consisting of a total of more than 5,300 solar panels/modules, these state-of-the-art systems are designed to reduce the facilities’ carbon footprint while providing a reliable source of zero-emission renewable energy.

“By embracing renewable energy, FedEx is not only making progress in reducing its carbon footprint, but also setting a powerful example for other companies on how to reduce the impacts of climate change,” said William Herchel, CEO of Verogy. “We are proud to have developed FedEx’s first solar installations in Connecticut and look forward to the positive long-term impact these projects will have on our environment.”

Combined, the solar projects are expected to generate more than 3,468,700 kWh of energy annually.

“Rooftop solar installations like these two are part of FedEx’s efforts to generate more electricity from renewable energy,” said Lonnie Mattison, sustainability and global vehicles manager at FedEx. “By partnering with Verogy to bring our first-ever solar projects online in the state of Connecticut, our facilities in Stratford and Middletown are helping pave the way to our goal of carbon neutral operations by 2040.”

Verogy helps companies like FedEx take tangible steps toward sustainability goals by demonstrating that renewable energy can be both a smart financial investment and a critical environmental strategy. The company focuses on developing, constructing and owning commercial, industrial and small utility-scale projects.
