Aiko Solar has started production at its Jinan factory, the third facility for n-type full back contact solar modules. The factory is designed for a solar cell and panel capacity of 30 GW, with the first phase of 10 GW reaching full production by the end of 2025.

Aiko Solar said the Jinan factory has started production of n-type all-back-contact (ABC) solar panels, marking a milestone for the company. The factory, Aiko’s third for n-type ABC modules, uses Industry 4.0 technologies, runs on green electricity, recovers more than 90% of the water and uses more than 30% of the waste heat. The first 10 GW phase is designed for a capacity of 30 GW of solar cells and panels and is expected to reach full production by the end of 2025, with all phases expected to be completed by 2029.

The Chinese Nonferrous Metals Industry Association (CNMIA) said polysilicon prices rose modestly this week, with n-type polysilicon averaging CNY41,500 ($5,660)/ton, up 2.22% week on week. N-type granular polysilicon averaged CNY 38,800/ton, an increase of 2.11%, while p-type polysilicon averaged CNY 33,700/ton. The CNMIA attributed the price increase to production cuts by major manufacturers, with production falling 22.1% month-on-month to 103,800 tonnes in December 2024 and expected to fall further to 98,000 tonnes in January 2025.

CHN Energy Investment Group (CHN Energy) said renewable energy capacity had exceeded 140 GW as of December 31, 2024, accounting for more than 40% of total energy generation. The company achieved its 2021-25 target ahead of schedule, doubling renewable capacity from 66.34 GW in 2021. Wind power grew by 20.26 GW and solar installations added 54.47 GW.

Arctech Solar has agreed to supply its SkyLine II tracking system for the 125 MW Komarnica Mountain solar project in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It says the multi-point parallel drive and second-generation AI algorithm aim to increase power generation by more than 7%, ensuring stable and efficient operation.
