Utmolight Production started at the world’s first Gigawatt scale Perovskite Solar Module Facility in Wuxi, near Shanghai. The factory will produce ultra-large perovskiet modules and buildings-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products en masse, with an expected annual output of 1.8 million modules. In the pilot production in November 2024, Utmolight achieved a record of 450 W power with 16.1% efficiency on a 2.8 m² perovskiet module. The company strives for 20% efficiency in mass production by 2025.

TCL Zhonghuan Said it is planning to fully own Sunpower Philippines Manufacturing Ltd. (SPML) to be acquired for $ 58.6 million through his subsidiary, Lumetech PTE. Ltd. SPML, currently a subsidiary of Maxeon Solar Technologies, Designs, Manufactures and sells solar modules under the Maxeon and Sunpower brands for markets for residential and utility scale. From January to August 2024, SPML generated $ 139.68 million in sales and a net profit of $ 23.57 million. TCL Zhonghuan, which already has a controlling interest in Maxeon, will transfer SPML to a complete subsidiary after completion of the deal.

DMEGC started with the phased commissioning of the second phase of its 12 GW very efficient solar cell project in Yibin, the province of Sichuan, and adds 6 GW tunnel oxide-passivated contact (topcon) cell capacity. This expansion is part of a wider 20 GW solar cell initiative, with the first two phases of a total of 12 GW. The combined investment for these phases is approximately CNY 3.55 billion ($ 487.1 million), including CNY 3.07 billion in fixed assets and CNY 482 million in working capital. The first 6 GW phase was completed in October 2023.

Longi has concluded an exclusive contract to deliver 500 MW Back Contact (BC) modules for the first phase of Dalate Dalate Desertification Control and Solar Integration Project from Inner Mongolia. The installation, which will be the largest centralized BC solar factory in China, will be built with the Hi-MO 9 modules from Longi. The second generation of BC solar panels offer a maximum capacity of 660 W with a conversion-efficiency of 24.43%. Longi said it is also planning to scale up his BC production capacity towards 70 GW by the end of 2025.
