Romanian organization proposes a new prosumer – model for apartments – PV Magazine International

The Romanian Association of Energy Prosumers and Communities (APCE) urges the government to introduce a new Prosumer model with which apartment residents can benefit from surplus solar energy generated by roof systems.

RomaniaThe Apce has presented a new type of prosumer to the Ministry of Energy of the Land.

The proposed Condominium Prosumer (CP) model is designed to optimize energy consumption in apartment buildings. This allows residents to use the energy produced by solar panels mounted on the roof of the apartment block.

Under current measures, the solar energy of systems mounted on apartment blocks is only used in common areas, injecting the surplus in the schedule.

APCE said the CP mechanism could be enforced with the permission of the majority of an apartment block, so that the associations of owners can be installed.

Once the energy needed for common spaces such as hall lighting, lifts and surveillance cameras has been treated, the CP model would distribute the excess energy according to a formula based on monthly and proportional distribution.

APCE said that the idea that a support from the National Home Docian Association of Romania would enable residents to take advantage of the monthly energy surplus, which ultimately reduces their energy costs.

APce said that the model could also facilitate the creation of micro-energy communities and eliminate discrimination between those who live at home and those who live in apartment buildings.

“We are convinced that solar energy must be accessible to everyone,” the association said on its website.

Romania installed 1.7 GW Van Zonne-Energie in 2024, a calendar year record for the country, according to figures from the Romanian photovoltaic industrial association.
