UBIQD, an American material company for Quantum Dot (QD), develops new polymer film inkhanging products for the Silicon Solar PV industry.

“We have developed down -writing polymers that contain QDs for different types of solar cells,” said Hunter McDaniel, CEO of Ubiqd, PV Magazine. “The aim is to prevent changes to the production process by including fluorescence in the incubator layer.”

To promote the functionality of his solar PV products, UBIQD has recently taken over the American-based Blueedot Photonics, a company that develops doped perovskiet materials that are said to have the potential to offer a relative power reinforcement of 16% when it is integrated into crystallijne.

In the press release, a link was provided to a conference document 2020, “Ray-Tracing analysis of power generation at module level of quantum treatment Ytterbium doped metalhale perovskites“Detailing the work of the researchers of Blueedot Photonics on Ytterbium-doped CSPB (CL1-XBRX) 3 quantum-blown down conversion materials.

UBIQD is planning to integrate Bluedot Photonics technology into its solar -PV products to be ‘ultimately sold as a composite polymer -Masterbatches on the Interlayer film’, according to McDaniel.

“It is relatively early in the development cycle, but the simple idea is that you encourage the photo flow by increasing the number of near-IR photons to the cell (converted from UV photons). Quantum Cutting provides photo multiplication, making a maximum of two photons in the area for each UV photon, “explained McDaniel.

UBIQD was founded in 2014 and develops technology for various applications, including greenhouses of solar films and coatings for window intermediate layers. The PV activity on solar energy had research projects with First Solar, an American manufacturer of Dunne film PV panel, as well as projects with American research institutes.

BLUEDOT Photonics was an employee of the American map Perovskite Consortium, in addition to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory of the US Department of Energy, various university research groups and industrial partners. It had a license -intellectual property of the University of Washington, which will now be available for Ubiqd.
