First Great British Energy Project will roll out the state -owned by the state ownership on the roof of solar energy at around 200 schools and 200 National Health Service (NHS) sites in England. Money for community groups and power schemes in Scotland, Wales and Noord -Ireland included in the investment package.

Great British Energy will invest in solar energy at around 200 schools and 200 hospital locations as part of the first investment package of the state-owned company of the State.

The GBP 200 million ($258 Million) Involvement includes approximately GBP 80 million for solar energy at school roofs in England, next to GBP 100 million to install solar energy on NHS roofs. The first panels are set to be installed by the end of the summer of 2025, on time for the next academic year.

According to the British government, only 20% of schools and less than 10% of hospitals in England have solar energy on the roof. It claims that the investment will result in GBP 400 million in lifelong savings for schools and the NHS over a period of approximately 30 years.

According to the government, the investment in schools will be the target of deprivation areas in England. Clusters of schools in disadvantaged areas in the north of England and the West Midlands will be selected, and the appointed contractors are expected to collaborate with local colleges for further education to promote a career in renewable energy sources. Activities can include work placements, skills training and workshops.

For the NHS, the largest energy user of the public sector in the United Kingdom, the extensive solar determination is expected to lower the bills, the government claims to be redirected to front line services. The NHS has an annual energy bill from GBP 1.4 billion according to the British government, more than double what it paid in 2019.

Further expenditure from the GBP 200 million package includes GBP 9.3 million for Community energy finance in Scotland, Wales and Noord -Ireland. The money is expected to support the renewable energy schemes on buildings in the public sector or new community or local renewable schemes.

Local governments in England will benefit from a GBP 6.6 million investment in “Local Net Zero Hubs”. These are free to use services for local governments to gain access to expertise and resources to support projects for clean energy.

Great British Energy will also launch a community fund to distribute GBP 5 million in subsidy financing to Community Energy Groups.

In a statement, Solar Energy UK Chief Executive Chris Hewett described the new project as a “very wise piece of public investments”.

“Every cent that is placed in photovoltaic solar energy and energy storage for public buildings means more money for the services that we are all dependent on – and the next generation to learn the value of renewable energy.”

An important pillar of the energy policy of the British government in the last general elections, Great British Energy was founded in 2024. The company is supported by GBP 8.3 billion in state continues in the course of the current British parliament, which will run until the next general elections – later than August 2029.
