This week the publication of the annual ITRPV report, prepared by the German Engineering Association VDMA. Now in his 16one Edition, the report takes in-depth in technological trends in the supply chain for Silicon PV products.

VDMA calculates PV module readings in 2024 at 703 GW, where the average prices have fallen by 33% compared to the end of 2023.

The report also shows that Crystalline Silicon PV technologies continue to dominate the world market with a share of around 98%, with N-type waffles that are good for a share of 70%.

“This comes with the expansion of Topcon technology of the N-type that dominates the market for the first time, causing P-Type Perc,” said VDMA in a statement. “Silicium heterojunction (SHJ), Back Contact (BC) cells, Topcon-based return contact (TBC) and heterojunction-based contact (HBC) are expected to get market share.”

VDMA experts also discovered that G12 waffles can reach a market share of 10%, whereby rectangular M10 formats can maintain a participation of 15%.

With regard to the Dominance of Topcon, products that are manufactured via laser -improved contact optimization (LECO) must have a share of 60% in 2024 and 87% by 2035.

“Selective emitters use falls with non-leco variants that phase in 2027. Rand passification of separate solar cells Due to deposition processes, it is also important for half cells or smaller, which dominate the market within a decade,” the report notes. “At the module level, copper interconnection will continue to dominate the market for cell-to-cell and string interconnection.”
