The new solar systems on the roof of 625,000 m², generate 1.03 MW of clean energy, which reduces the electricity costs of the idea by 25%. The project was made partly possible with a $ 924,858 solar stimulans of the non -profit program of Austin Energy, which helps to reduce financial barriers for organizations that want to invest in renewable energy.

“Working together with Idea Public Schools to bring solar energy to their campuses is exactly the kind of work that stimulates our mission,” said Graeme Walker, CEO of Axis Solar. “Not only do this project lower the costs and CO2 footprints, but it also exposes thousands of students to the benefits of renewable energy in a real, tangible way.”

For IDEA Public Schools, the transition to solar energy is not just about reducing costs -it is about setting an example for its 7,500 students who are registered about the Austin campuses.

“With solar panels that feed our school, we use the energy of the sun to create a brighter, more sustainable future – stringing students to be the change in our world,” said Antonio Guevara, director of Energy Services for IDEA Public Schools.
