Levante, an Italian PV design and engineering company for carbon fiber, has introduced 110 W and 55 W panels for offgrid recreational applications. The modules are lightweight, semi-rigid and made with recycled carbon fiber material.
Levante, an Italian solar panel company with carbon fiber, has launched new waterproof 110 W and 55 W products that are portable, lighter weight, glass-free and made with recycled carbon fiber.
The carboncore modules were presented in JEC World, a compound exhibition for materials that was recently held in Paris.
The semi-rigid solar panels have eyes in every corner to make it easy to repair them on available surfaces of campers, recreational vehicles, sailing boats and yachts. They are based on 25.5%-efficient monocrystalline back contact cells from the Singapore-based celf manufacturer Maxeon.
“These are integrated in our lightweight carbon fiber structures to deliver top performance in a unique, high-end design,” said Sara Plaga, co-founder of Levante and CEO, said PV Magazine.
The carboncore products are available in 55 W and 110 W sizes with a matte or hail-resistant finish. The larger model has 32 solar cells, measures 1.123 mm x 546 mm x 4 mm and weighs 2.2 kg, while the smallerer has a site 615 mm x 546 mm x 4 mm and a weight of 1.1 kg. Both are supplied with 5 m cables 5 m.
Up to 40% lighter than conventional panels, the modules are made to perform in conditions with little light and high temperature, according to the company. The panels can be connected serially and are compatible with a variety of battery tensions and chemistry. The maximum voltage is 19.6 V and the maximum current is 5.6 A.
The Levante CarbonCore panels stem from a collaboration with the manufacturer of the manufacturer Solbian and advanced material recycling startup recarbon, both located in Italy.
“A clear trend is the growing preference for long-term, lightweight solutions above cheaper alternatives that quickly break down or have fragile cells. This makes our panels ideal for mobility applications,” plaga, adding that other functions appreciated by customers sustainability, aesthetics and the craftsmanship of made in-work products are.
When asked which geographical or regional markets such products demand, Plaga said that customers are active in the outdoor, mobility and design sectors and are located in North Europe, Germany, France, Canada and the US
“Customers also become more attention for the origin of materials, sustainable production processes and the use of recycled components – values that are deeply embedded in our work,” said Plaga.
The latest products can be purchased directly from the company via its website. “We are also expanding our network of selected distributors throughout Europe,” she added.
Levante, founded in 2021, offers a line of modules and portable energy storage systems based on lithium-iron phosphate batteries. “We design and supply fully customized solar installations from concept to battery and mechanical structure based on the unique needs of our customers,” said Plaga.
The company also offers technical expertise for adapted solutions and advanced R&D projects in which the company and its partners work on “integrating solar cells into larger structures of any form”.
