Structural planning and installation decisions for PV projects for double use, of course, start maintaining the most important active country. Based on the basic level, this means that trackers sourcing that zero sort requires to maintain the topsoil and the natural quality of the country.

EPCs must take into account the current and future crease selections, soil cultivation and planting methods and harvest requirements for the fields that are also planned for Agrivoltaics projects, says Jeff Sharpe, CEO of Stracker sunA dual-axis solar tracker company.

“Hay, peppermints and legumes are often cut, rowed and saved in concentric loops that move from the herlines,” says Sharpe. “Row crops such as vegetables, tubers and flowers are often planted and harvested in straight rows on the largest square dimension of the field. Because crops and harvest styles can be changed every few years, it is wise to plan layouts of solar structure and system designs to work well with basic layout and harvest style.”

Straight lines of large, robust structural poles, usually remotely from 50 ft to 80 ft in the middle, ensure the efficient functioning of the larger plant, harvest and combination tractor systems. Minimum 14 ft clearance of the primary horizontal solar support systems make unhindered operations of most agricultural equipment possible, although higher exemptions may be needed for the larger combination systems.

“While typical smartboard plow systems work in the top 6 to 8 inch soil, electrical pipes and wiring systems are usually safe safe at a minimum of 18 inches under the bottom surface, although potential future soil height changes or other unique circumstances can justify that can be advised deeper. Sharpe says Sharpe.

The implementation of an effective and organized cable management system (CMS) is important for all solar projects, but CMS is especially crucial for Agrivoltaics projects. Avoiding raw disorders is also the key here:

“Above ground cable management must be an important consideration for EPCs,” says Jonny North, product manager at Grip. “By eliminating the need for slots, which can disrupt soils and harm roots of crops, managing cables above the ground is an ideal solution for agrivoltaic, especially those at fruit -growing or vineyard places where the risk of established roots must be minimized.”

However, exposed threads and cables are more at risk if grazing animals are part of the Agrivoltaics site plan.

Sites with agrivoltaic elements are generally more frequent maintenance of the site than solar projects without Agrivoltaics because both crops and cattle require more care.

“For example, co-locking solar panels with grazing animals, such as sheep or goats, opens the risk that the animals that interfere with or chew on the cables, which would have catastrophic consequences for the operation of the solar energy plant and the well-being of the grazing herd,” says Scott Rand, CEO of AWM. “The flexibility to increase the height of the CMS or easy to roustue can be the decisive factor between a successful or challenging project.”

That also extends to the tracker system.

“Customers must ensure that their chosen tracker product is adequately designed for Agrivoltaic purposes,” says Jenya Meydbray, CCO with Nevados. “With controls, for example, most tracker companies are left away from their trackers, but for an Agrivoltaics project that expects expected presence and operation, the possibility of managing trackers with physical buttons is also valuable. Safety is also a different important consideration with moving parts and people who are involved for the tracker-algae”
