Saft, A subsidiary of the Totaleenergie has expanded its energy storage system with the launch of its latest innovation: the Intensiumflex (I-flex) battery storage container. It offers a compact building block with a rating of 3.4, 4.3 or 5.1 MWh for creating projects up to the Gigawatt-hour scale. The production on the DC version starts by the end of 2025 to operate more than 1 GWh of fixed orders that are already in control. The company will also launch an AC version in 2026.

Based on lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry, I-Flex is a high energy, liquid-cooled, fully integrated system designed to guarantee high levels of safety and operational reliability under intense use conditions. The flexibility makes the optimized design of multiple storage system configurations possible to operate any mix of applications, from long -term change from renewable sources to dynamic short -term grid services.

“When developing IntensiumFlex, we built 15 years of Velder experience in the design, engineering and commissioning of battery energy storage systems, with an installed base of more than 7.5 GWH about renewable energy sources, grid, data centers, industry and microgrid -lezdir, Esftarecteur said Vincent -pro -proceeding -pro -proceedings -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -proceeds -propresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespresprespres -proposure “Considered as a flexible building block, I-Flex enables us to optimize the system solution for each project in terms of storage capacity and system architecture, regardless of the use of use or location. It will play an important role in stimulating SAFT’s expansion in the worldwide BESS market.”

The intensive flex battery containers from SAFT can be connected in parallel to make flexible Bess solutions, so that the turnover in configurations is maximized from two to eight hours. Thermal insulation provides back-to-back and side-by-side installation, which considerably reduces the footprint of the system. The current DC version is compatible with multiple Power Conversion Systems (PCS), while the future AC version DC will integrate into AC conversion within the same housing, further optimizing the footprint and simplifying installation and commissioning on site.

The improved thermal management of Intensium Flex makes a daily energy supply of 300% possible, even with the very compact assembly of the battery modules, SAFT says. This is made possible by the efficient cooling system for the modules and the battery management module together with an integrated cooling circuit from heat exchanger. The focus on maintaining temperature homogeneity in the battery modules is of crucial importance to guarantee system performance and a long service life.

It is assembled, tested and certified by the factory ready for delivery to the site as a plug-and-play energy storage solution that ensures a best-in-class safety solution, in line with future NFPA 8551 requirements. It is housed in a standard ISO container for simple transport by sea and road.

It also offers a high level of cyber security that exceeds current market requirements because of the internal battery management system of SAFT, as well as the design and purchasing of important components in the EU and the United States.

I-flex is supplemented with SAFT’s ITSE cloud-based data management control and supervisory platform that combines AI and Machine Learning for external, real-time performance monitoring and predictive maintenance of BESS installations.
