The Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems Isee (Fraunhofer ISE) has launched Diveo GmbH to plan and construct different types of Agrivoltaic facilities without concentrating on specific technologies.

Researchers from Fraunhofer Isee have joined forces with an external team to set up Diveo GmbH. The startup will support farms in the planning, construction and monitoring of agrivoltaic facilities that are connected to the storage of battery energy.

The current projects work as generation systems with grid or green energy storage. Pure green energy storage systems temporarily only store the solar power of the affiliated PV array and delay grid input.

Fraunhofer Ise said that it has investigated Agrivoltaics for more than 10 years and has now employed around 70 scientists in the field. It has supported several AGRI-PV pilot projects.

Two Fraunhofer Ise -Alumni, both with earlier spin -off experience, develop the new Diveo company.

“We mainly use the light simulations of Fraunhofer Isee and plant shadow analyzes for system design,” said Kai Klapdor, director of Diveo. “Different system types are used, high-mounted static East-West-agri-Photovoltaic systems in fruit growth to tracking systems in arable farming and permanent grassland. Depending on the circumstances, various systems are profitable for all stakeholders, such as landowners, municipalities, farms and investors.”
