TP Solar Ltd., the production unit of Tata Power and a complete subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy LTD (TPREL), has surpassed 4 GW production of solar module in the facility in Tamil Nadu, India. From May 31, 2025, the plant produced 4,049 MW of solar modules and 1,441 MW of solar cells.

With a strategic focus on scaling up the production, the company focuses on 3.7 GW of the output of solar cells and 3.725 GW module production in FY 2026.

The integrated facility is strategically built to meet the standards of the domestic content requirement (DCR) by producing PV modules with cells produced in-house. It is equipped to produce mono-passivated emitter and rear cell (PERC) and tunneloxide-passivated contact (Topcon) modules with the help of automated, AI-driven systems.

The facility already provides panels to meet the ordering book requirements of Tata Power-included solar farms on Utility scale, hybrid energy parks and distributed roof systems while they also operate third-party installations throughout the country.

The factory is expected to operationalize its nominal capacity of 4.3 GW in tax 2026.

More than 80% of the factory’s workforce consists of women. The factory itself was built with the help of green building principles, energy -efficient processes and resources -conscious design, so that the footprint of the environment is minimized.

TPREL also operates a 682 MW solar module and a 530 MW PV cell factory in Bengaluru, which runs at full capacity to support the DCR cells and the production of modules.
