Quantum Dot Nanotechnology Company Ubiqd has signed an exclusive, multi-year agreement to deliver its own fluorescent quantum dot technology to First solar energy. This would make it possible to make the quantum post technology in the thin film panels of First Solar in the thin film panels of First Solar.

The two companies have been working together since 2023 on collaboration sun designs. Quantum spots (QDs) are semiconductor nanoparticles that show much efficient photoluminescence over a wide range of adjustable colors, making them effective in optimizing light spectra.

“This is a turning point for the Quantum Dot industry with this first high volume QD supply outside the display,” said Hunter McDaniel, PhD, founder and CEO of Ubiqd. “This partnership shows how American innovation and production can deliver differentiated performance, especially at a time in which breakthroughs in efficiency and materials is more vital than ever. First solar energy has been an excellent partner, and together we have not only demonstrated performance benefits, but also the cost effectiveness and scaluity of our materials for materials for materials for solar” “” “”

The own quantumplotting technology of Ubiqd was originally developed to research institutions Los Alamos National Laboratory and MIT, when included in Inkapseling of the solar panel, QDs can be more than double the bifacial quantum efficiency of light conversion for specific Glass lengths and critics.

“In the event of an utility scale, even incremental profit in bifaciality translates into a significant impact on the real world on the energy yield,” said Markus Gloeckler, Chief Technology Officer, First Solar. “We are enthusiastic about the potential for Quantum Dot technology to contribute meaningful profits to the performance of our bifacial modules.”

While the thin film panels of First Solar Cadmium-Telluride (CDTE) are not traditionally produced in bifacial designs, those of the company Series 6 -module Can come in a bifacial form with double glass.

Ubiqd is planning to build one of the highest volume QD production facilities in the world in New Mexico in the coming year.
