Origis Energy and Pioneer Community Energy, a non-profit electricity provider with head office in Rocklin, California, announced the signing of a 20-year agreement for the Chalan Solar + storage project in Lost Hills, Kern County, California. Origis Energy will develop, build and serve the 65 MWAC Solar + 100 MWh Battery Energy Storage System facility, which sells the power to Pioneer to help feed the growth. Chalan is planned for commercial operation in 2026.
“Our collaboration with Origis Energy comes at a very suitable time. Since Pioneer is planning to extend our service area to 13 new areas, this agreement ensures that we can offer clean energy and increased storage that helps achieve renewable energy and sustainability goals while we meet the tax requirements for our new customers,” said Greg Janda, vice -chairman Council member.
