The electricity ruler of Brazil, Aneel (AGência Nacional de Energia Elétrica) has postponed a decision on rules for energy storage systems after director Fernando Mosna has asked more time to investigate how such systems should be charged transmission and distribution use of the system.

During the board meeting on Tuesday (August 12), the agency was close to approving a cap of 30% on the reduction in the amount of use of transmission and distribution system use (known as MUST/D) for generators who want to hybridize their assets with storage. The proposed limit was increased from 20% in the first recommendation of the technical department.
