The Ohio Power Siting Board (OPSSB) has approved the maximum 220 MW Eastern Cotton Solar Solar project for construction. The project developed by EDF Power Solutionsreceived his certificate of environmental compatibility and public needs and will be in Walnut Township in Fairfield County, Ohio.

“We are very happy to see that the Eastern Cottontail Solar Project will continue with the approval of today,” said Nick Lucania, main developer of the Eastern Cottontail Solar Project. “This milestone is the result of years of involvement in the Fairfield County community, farmers and landowners and local officials to tune the project to community priorities and growth in the long term. We are committed to maintaining an open dialogue while moving to construction and operations, and to be a trusted partner in the community for years.”

It is estimated that Eastern Cottontail creates around 500 building tracks, as well as long -term jobs in operations and maintenance. During the life of the project, Eastern Cottontail is expected to generate up to $ 80 million in/ long -term income for schools, police and fire brigades and local services in Fairfield County.

Eastern Cottontail will generate sufficient electricity to power the equivalent of 42,000 average American houses. Once operational, it will help to support the increasing demand for power of Central Ohio, which is expected to double in the decade that leads to 2028.

The project will graze sheep to help with vegetation management on his project site, so that the country is kept in agricultural use. This obligation was submitted as a supplement to his permit application at the OWSB. The project will try to collaborate with local shepherds to deliver and manage the herd.
