Websol Energy System approved the addition of 4 GW of the production capacity of solar cells and modules with a total investment of INR 30 billion (€ 333 million/$ 364 million). The company said that the new cell capacity will use Topcon technology.

The expansion will take place in two phases via a full subsidiary: a 2 GW solar cell and moduleline in June 2027, followed by another 2 GW line by June 2028.

Webol said that the investment will be financed by a mix of internal structure and loans from financial institutions.

The company currently has a 600 MW solar cell line and a 550 MW solar moduleline in Falta, West Bengalen. The solar cell line runs with a capacity use of 90%. Both lines were financed by internal structures, a preferential stock problem and institutional loans.

An additional 600 MW solar cell line, also in Falta, is planned to come online in October 2025. Fully financed by internal overbouw, the project will yield the capacity of webol to 1.2 GW.

By 2028, the total capacity of Webol will reach 5.2 GW for solar cells and 4.5 GW for modules.

The board has also approved a distribution of share in a 1:10 ratio, subject to approval of the shareholders during the annual general meeting on September 29, 2025.
