NexTracker reveals NX Powermerge Trunk EBOs for solar scale Zonne

NEXTRacker has introduced NX Powermerge, a 2 kV Trunk-Connector-based EBOS solution for solar projects on Utility scale, designed to lower connection points, simplify layouts and lower project costs.

Nexpracker from the Zonne-Tracker has released NX Powermerge, a Trunk-Connector-based electric balance of systems (EBOs) solution for solar projects on Utility scale.

The NX Powermerge is designed to meet the requirements of contemporary high -voltage arroys with high density. It provides a 2 kV-ready solution for PV-string-to-trunk bus connections. It houses 400 A or larger ampacity, supports a maximum of eight tap threads and is compatible with hull conductors up to 1000 kcmil.

The company said that NX Powermerge developers enable to reduce the number of connection points and simplify the layouts of the inverter.

The company said that the NX Powermerge introduced to support the industry acceptance of TrunkBuss that are used for many solar projects on utilities. The NX Powermerge is an alternative to traditional EBOS solutions based on combination box, which NexTpracker also offers. The Trunk connector is designed to lower the level of the project levels of electricity (LCOE) and simplify the implementation of the project.

NexPracker launched his Ebos company when it announced the Acquisition of Bentek Corporation In his tax year 2025 WinSt report. “Powermerge is really special for various reasons,” said Ryan Schofield, Vice President, Ebos, Nexpracker told PV Magazine USA. “The unit has an assessment of 400 Ampère, has 8 Overmold tap connections up to 6 AWG, which means that you are able to combine more PV strings in fewer trunk connection points.”

“The number of connecting points on a PV factory leads to an increased risk and exposure to potential failure points,” said Schofield. “In addition, increased connection points encourage higher costs for the installation costs of work and endangers the long -term DC health of a project.”

Schofield said that having the total unit with more than 400 A with larger tap wire meters means that an installation program can merge more strings at higher current in a single unit. This allows installers to reduce the number of connectors, collect more strings in one connection point and generally process higher current.

“It lowers the LCOe in different ways,” said Schofield. “It is a faster installation with fewer units to be installed. The method in which it ends on the DC Trunk bus is also special. It combines the benefits of a connector in compression style, in combination with installed factory and overbold tap threads.

Although the Trunk solution by some installers may be preferred, NexTroper also offers a combination box-based solution. Senior sales director Yazan Ajlani said that the company uses a consultative approach with customers to make the right solution possible for every project site.

“One reason why people prefer the Trunk system is that when you take certainties outside of a box, you reduce the derate needed for fuses, by using a free air rating on the fuse,” said Schofield. “Muzes that work on high power generate heat. In a combination box all that heat is caught, causing an internal temperature rise. When the temperature goes up, you must enforce your fuse, which means that you are usually driven to add your fuse or extra circuits to a cable boom.

Schofield compared EBOs with the human body, where the wiring and combination boxes are the veins and the heart of the body. Just as your heart pumps blood to all your organs, the EBOS system ensures that the electrical current flows efficiently and reliably. The Powermerge system works as a large artery that replaces a network of smaller, more vulnerable blood vessels.

Nexpracker recommends combining the solution with its solar trackers, which can be compared to the body’s skeleton. By bundling the skeletal system (trackers) with the blood circulation and heart (EBOs), Nexpracker can optimize the entire plant. This ensures a healthier, robust and more efficient operation, reducing the risk of malfunctions and the power generation is maximized during the lives of the factory.

“Customers will appreciate faster and more flexible construction, more reliability and coordination with the attributes of a modern grid. This is the kind of very scalable technology that can help solar energy to continue to grow its share in the global market for electricity,” said Shugar, Chief Executive Officer, Nextracker.

NexTracker will display the Powermerge to the V9223 stand on RE+ 2025 in the Venetian in Las Vegas from 8 September to 11 September. The product is expected to start shipping in the spring of 2026.
