Specialist of the home battery storage Powervault and Demand-Side Response Firm Volalis have formed a new strategic partnership to bring energy flexibility to the UK energy flexibility guided by consumers.

The new partnership enables customers to participate in both the capacity market and the wholesale market, so that customers with Powervault -Zonne batteries can use them as assets for generating income. The collaboration is currently being tested as part of a pilot, including around 300 residential units. Unique works the technology with every compatible battery system, regardless of the energy supplier, whereby Volalis technology is used to automate the control of energy storage and delivery in times of peak consumption.

By participating in this way in Raster’s balance efforts, users can generate income; According to Powervault, the combined savings of market participation and automatic energy -optimization can lead to a typical household with an installed solar and battery system that reduces their energy costs to zero.

Dr. Randall Bowen, UK Managing Director of Voltalis, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, and emphasized that the partnership ensures that the LED flexibility is accessible by the consumer with the existing arrangement of homeowners. He added: “Homeowners can now participate in energy markets that help balance the grid and at the same time achieve extra returns of their battery investment. It is a win-win that supports both household budgets and the energy transition of the VK.”

Robin Stopford, CEO of Powervault, called the partnership ‘groundbreaking’ and noted that PowerVault clients ‘network costs of the network already minimize with our intelligent planning, and now thanks to Voltalis technology they can also automatically unlock additional savings that were previously only available at a electricity supplier’.

Home Battery Energy Systems as a grid balancing tool

This new partnership is one of a number of recent tests that demonstrates how the energy storage systems for home batteries can be used to help you balance rasters. In May of this year, electricity supplier E.on then bundled the forces with distribution network operator (DNO) Northern PowerGrid To test a new schedule, aimed at reducing energy bills for consumers. Initially rolled out to 100 houses in Crowle, Noord -Lincolnshire and Starbeck, North Yorkshire, the test combines the storage of battery energy with flexibility services and improved home insulation to help reduce the accounts for consumers. For the test, which runs between one to four years, participants have provided free home batteries of E.On, which are used in addition to flexibility services that are provided by Northern PowerGrid to save energy during cheaper times of the day that can then be used during the evening peak times to reduce accounts and at the same time help with grater alding.
