Currently, the authority to approve or refuse most energy projects at the Public Service Commission (PSC) of the State. This top-down approach deprives control of the development of voters about the development in their local community. Community Solar gives the power back to the people by giving local municipalities and cities control over siting and approval for solar projects in their areas of law.
“My voters are tired of this massive solar projects that include thousands of hectares, for which they have no voices. That is why the small scale of these projects – combined with local control and supervision – is such an important part of this legislation in the residents of Wisconsin.
Wisconsin is a net importer of energy and currently has some of the most expensive energy costs in the midwest. By creating more competition on the market, Community Solar will expand Solar Energie Options, keep the expenditure on use in control and reduced high energy prices.
