SECI has issued a tender inviting bids for the development of 1.2 GW of renewable energy projects in combination with energy storage systems to guarantee an insured peak food of 4.8 GWH (1,200 MW XX four hours) daily. The projects will be developed on a construction basis.
SECI will sign 25-year-old Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) with successful bidders, who act as an intermediary between developers and the purchasing tents, which will be identified later.
The selected developers will set up interstate transmission system-connected renewable energy projects that are integrated with energy storage systems. All generation and storage components must be laid together for each project.
The scope of the work for developers includes land acquisition, installation, ownership and obtaining all required schedule connectivity and approvals of the regulations. Projects can be established anywhere in India.
The energy storage system component is mandatory and must only be charged via renewable sources. Developers can possess the storage system or regulate it via a third party. Storage technology can be changed at any time during the PPA term.
Each bidder must make a single bid for a minimum contracted capacity of 50 MW and a maximum of 600 MW, only in integrated values.
According to the tendering, developers must supply 4,000 kWh of energy per MW of contracted capacity during peak hours, as planned by the purchasing entity. For example, a 100 MW project would be needed to deliver up to 400 MWh energy during peak hours every day.
