UkraineThe Ministry of Energy has announced changes to the loan scheme for private individuals installing hybrid renewable energy systems.

Individuals who install solar or wind systems in addition to storage now benefit from a one-time repayment worth 30% of the loan principal instead of monthly interest payments.

A statement from the ministry said the change will increase access to hybrid energy supply systems for more households by introducing a “more efficient model of state financial support” and provide tangible benefits for both borrowers and the government.

“Borrowers will immediately benefit from lower borrowing costs for the purchase and installation of equipment, while the state and potential donors can better predict and allocate the resources needed for financial support,” the ministry explained.

Ukraine’s Energy Minister Svitlana Grynchuk says that since the introduction of the preferential lending program, 3,035 loan agreements have been signed for a total amount of more than UAH 1 billion ($23.8 million) and covering a combined capacity of more than 26 MW.

Grynchuk added that the ministry is working to mobilize additional financing through international partners and financial institutions to ensure the continuation of the program.

Ukraine deployed 500MW of solar energy in the first half of 2025, according to preliminary figures from the country’s solar energy association.
