Waaree Energies said it has secured an order for the supply of 1.5 GW of solar panels and has started production of newly installed PV inverter production lines.

Earlier this week, the company surpassed 20 GW of approved solar panel manufacturing capacity after its Chikhli plant was added to India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM), a requirement for participation in many domestic utility-scale projects.

Waaree said the latest contract includes 1,000 MW of Domestic Content Requirements (DCR) compliant modules and 500 MW of non-DCR modules. The customer was described as a renowned company active in the field of energy generation, transmission and distribution. The deliveries are planned for the entire financial year 2026-2027.

In addition, the company said its wholly-owned subsidiary, Waaree Power, has commenced operations at a new solar inverter manufacturing facility in Sarodhi-Valsad, western Indian state of Gujarat. The site has two inverter production lines, each with an annual capacity of 1.525 GW, bringing the total installed inverter production capacity to 3.05 GW.

Commercial production at the inverter factory began on December 29, 2025, the company said, marking a milestone in the group’s expansion into domestic production of solar electronics in addition to its module business.
