SOLON company has completed an 8.75 MW behind-the-meter solar project at Tucson Water’s Central Avra Valley Storage and Recovery Project (CAVSARP) in Tuscon, Arizona. It is the largest known installation of its kind in Arizona, the company said in a press release.

This is the 60th project SOLON has completed in partnership with the City of Tuscon. The 1.16 million square foot array consists of 16,275 solar panels mounted on a single-axis tracker system. The system was powered in August 2025.

The solar project is expected to generate 514.42 GWh of renewable energy over the next 28 years, reducing CAVSARP’s dependence on traditional energy sources. The project was completed at no upfront cost to the city and is estimated to generate $3,368,344 in energy savings over its lifetime.

“SOLON is thrilled to deliver this groundbreaking solar energy project that supports the City of Tucson’s ambitious sustainability goals,” said Brian Seibel, president of SOLON. “Our partnership with the City of Tucson demonstrates our shared commitment to advancing clean energy infrastructure and providing solar energy solutions that deliver meaningful long-term savings.”
