Arevon Energy, a renewable energy developer, commenced operations at the 430 MWDC Kelso Solar Project in Scott County, Missouri.

Arevon Energy broke ground on the 430 MWDC Kelso Solar Project in May 2025.

Arevon developed, built and will own and operate the Kelso Solar Project. The two-phase installation, Arevon’s first large-scale project in Missouri, increased the state’s solar capacity by nearly 50% and generates enough energy to power more than 62,000 homes annually.

During construction, the project employed more than 450 staff and is estimated to pay out more than $62 million in property taxes over its life, supporting schools, infrastructure and first responders.

Arevon hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony yesterday for the project’s partners, Scott County leaders, local business owners, landowners and community members to celebrate the collective effort to bring the facility online.

“After years of responsible development and construction, I am proud that the Kelso Solar Project, Arevon’s first large-scale project in Missouri, is generating safe, domestic energy,” said Justin Johnson, interim CEO of Arevon. “Kelso Solar reflects the strong collaboration between Arevon, our partners, and Scott County’s landowners and local leaders, all of whom played a critical role in bringing this project to fruition. We look forward to Kelso Solar meeting America’s energy needs for many decades to come.”

During development and construction, Arevon, in partnership with the renewable energy group of Primoris Services, the project’s construction contractor, donated $525,000 to the Scott County Central School District for a solar-powered bus carport; contributed $300,000 to the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center, an outpatient pediatric therapy facility serving children with special needs, to help build a new gymnasium; and provided $300,000 for new Chromebooks for Scott County R-IV School District students and another $145,000 to support safety initiatives and the school district’s STEM program, among other things.

“Arevon has been an incredible supporter of the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center and the entire Scott County community. As we prepare for our largest annual fundraiser – the telethon – which raises approximately $300,000 each year to provide free physical, occupational and speech therapy to local children, their generosity means everything,” said Michelle Fayette, executive director of the Kenny Rogers Children’s Center. “When Arevon announced at the Kelso Solar groundbreaking that they would match our Telethon total, I was speechless – nothing like this had ever happened in my 24 years at the center.”

In recent months, Arevon announced the commencement of operations of its Ratts 1 and Heirloom Solar Projects, 264 MWDC of new domestic solar in Indiana, and continues to advance construction of its 124 MWDC Big Muddy Solar Project in Illinois. In addition, Arevon developed and managed the construction of the 251 MWDC Gibson Solar Project and the 228 MWDC Posey Solar Project in Indiana on behalf of local utilities.
