While many existing ECOi-W products use variable-speed scroll compressors and pumps, the Aqua-G EVO combines an inverter-driven compressor and pump with advanced refrigerant circuits and defrost management, ensuring precise temperature control, high seasonal efficiency and reliable heating even in harsh winter conditions, the company said.

The Aqua-G EVO is explicitly marketed as a boiler replacement solution for commercial, light industrial and multi-residential buildings, while other ECOi-W models are general reversible heat pumps that are not suitable for complete heating replacement.

“The new heat pump is purpose-built to meet rising commercial demand for sustainable heating technologies that can effectively replace gas boilers in commercial, light industrial and multi-residential buildings,” Panasonic said in a statement. “Using the natural refrigerant propane (R290), with an ultra-low global warming potential (GWP) of just 0.02, the range aligns with evolving F-gas regulations and supports the sustainability commitments of companies in European markets.”

At -10 C outside, the heat pump can reportedly maintain approximately 85% of its capacity. It can also provide water at 55°C at an ambient temperature of -18°C and up to 75°C for domestic hot water at a temperature of -2°C.

The range includes 60, 80 and 110 kW models, suitable for various commercial installations. Up to eight units can be cascaded, achieving a combined power of almost 880 kW. Smaller installations of up to four units allow for a compact, side-by-side installation, saving space in the engine room.

Panasonic also said it offers a complete HVAC ecosystem, from high-efficiency chillers to fan coil units equipped with nanoe The smart platforms enable centralized control over multiple locations for operational convenience, the company said.
