S-5! unveils new mounting systems for rooftop solar energy

S-5!, a mounting systems supplier, plans to release two new mounting components for rooftop PV systems, including a new mount that allows module-level power electronics to be attached directly to solar panel frames.

April 11, 2024 David Caroll

S-5 headquartered in the USA! claims that the new MLPE Mount provides a versatile method to attach and connect microinverters and power optimizers directly to the underside of solar panel frames mounted on metal roofs.

“This provides the versatility needed to better manage wire management from module to module and electrically interconnect the equipment to easily meet grounding requirements,” the company said.

S-5! The mounting system allows installation of module-level power electronics (MLPE) before the modules are lifted onto the roof, where they can be adjusted if necessary. With a 304 stainless steel housing and closure, the MLPE Mount is suitable for any type of solar panel and is designed for mounting microinverters and optimizers weighing less than 1.3 kg.

S-5! said the MLPE Mount can be used in rail-mounted installations or combined with the railless solar mounting solution for direct attachment to metal roofs. In addition to MLPE mounting, S-5! will also introduce the new Protea II mounting bracket to the Australian market.

The bracket fits most metal panel roofs with trapezoidal ribs (single wall and insulated). The Protea II bracket has an adjustable mounting base for different rib widths, heights and angles with a top length up to 90 mm and is suitable for both rail and railless systems.

S-5! said it will introduce its new direct-attached solar solutions at the Solar and Storage Live Australia event to be held in Brisbane on May 1-2, 2024.

S-5! Mounting solutions are made in the United States for a range of roof applications and are now installed on more than 2.5 million metal roofs worldwide, including 7.3 GW of rooftop solar.
