Pivot Energy and GreenSpark Solar have announced the completion of a solar portfolio in Upstate New York with four agrivoltaic projects. The more than 22 MWDC The portfolio is a critical step toward New York’s goal of achieving 70% renewable energy by 2030 and a zero-emissions electricity grid by 2040.

This spring, the four tracking solar projects owned and developed by Pivot began producing energy in New York State, including several projects in the Adirondack region. Funding for the projects included NYSERDA’s NY-Sun program. By working with GreenSpark Solar, Pivot was able to ensure quality installations while keeping the labor and economic benefits of the projects as local as possible. The solar projects are included in the Remote Crediting program, which is tailored to commercial subscribers, local farms, nursing homes and school districts.

All sites will be grazed by sheep, the majority through United Agrivoltaics, a national cooperative of sheep farmers. Pivot also partners with a nonprofit organization to sponsor the raising and release of native ground-nesting birds at two of the sites.

“Pivot Energy is excited to partner with GreenSpark Solar on this Upstate New York Solar Portfolio, an important step toward New York’s clean energy goals,” said Brit Gibson, Chief Operating Officer at Pivot Energy. “We are thrilled to be able to leverage agrivoltaic energy, which allows land to be used for both regenerative agriculture and solar energy generation, delivering multiple benefits at once.”
