7.5 MW community solar project completed at the University of Washington, DC

A 7.5 MW solar project was recently completed The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC The West Campus Solar Array was developed by Standard solar energy.

Located in the heart of Washington, DC, the West Campus Solar Array will be fully operational this summer. Plans were in the works to convert part of the little-used 40-hectare plot into a car park, but instead there will now be a field of 42 rows of solar panels providing 10,000 MWh hours of power to the university. and the community.

“This West Campus solar farm project is not just a renewable energy venture; it is a testament to Catholic University of America’s commitment to creating a sustainable future for our nation and world,” said Catholic University President Peter Kilpatrick. “As we light our campus with clean energy, we also light the mind through education and invite the community to join us on this transformative journey toward a greener and more sustainable world.”

The West Campus Solar Array is the largest urban ground-based solar array in the region and is located as a community solar project. The array will provide clean energy savings to more than 1,200 subscribers within the community, benefiting the residents of the district.

“Undertaking a project of this magnitude in an urban environment presents challenges, but the potential benefits for the region are enormous,” said Scott Wiater, President & CEO of Standard Solar. “The West Campus Solar Array will provide sustainable power to the university and benefit the local community. It is a real win-win scenario for everyone involved.”
