Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a new large-scale renewable energy request to deliver clean electricity to New Yorkers. Building on New York’s 10-Point Action Plan, this call seeks proposals to develop new large-scale onshore renewable energy projects, which are expected to spur billions of dollars in clean energy investments and create thousands of jobs for families in the world. the state’s green economy. Today’s announcement supports progress toward achieving the state’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act goal of generating 70% of New York’s electricity from renewable sources by 2030.

“New York is building a clean energy economy that will allow us to dramatically reduce emissions while creating thousands of new, good-paying jobs, fueling billions of dollars in economic growth and injecting private investment into our local communities stimulated,” said Governor Hochul. . “Once selected, these projects will help accelerate our mission to provide our state with affordable, reliable, zero-emission electricity for the benefit of all New Yorkers.”

The procurement, administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), is the latest in a planned series of procurements for large-scale onshore renewable projects. As part of this request, NYSERDA has incorporated key provisions from the latest rounds of renewable energy procurement, such as inflation indexing, labor provisions, stakeholder engagement requirements, new requirements emphasizing the importance of climate resilience in project design, obligations of disadvantaged communities, conservation of agricultural land. and related priorities to maintain the policy objectives introduced in previous requests to ensure a just energy transition. These elements are set out in the solicitation documents and are intended to support the development and construction of numerous mature, advanced renewable energy projects seeking to commence operations in the short term.

NYSERDA remains committed to strengthening our renewable energy pipeline and delivering ever-increasing amounts of renewable electricity to further strengthen our grid of the future,” said Doreen M. Harris, president and CEO of NYSERDA.
