Project investor Excelsior Capital has agreed to purchase 2.2 GWh of energy storage systems Fluence energy for use on US projects beginning in 2025. The projects will have access to battery cells and modules manufactured in the United States and assembled by Fluence in Utah for the Gridstack Pro product line.

“We seek to identify and work with partners who think about the world the same way we do – prioritizing fundamentals and long-term stability and committing to that future through decisive investments,” said Anne Marie Denman, co-founder and partner of Excelsior Energy Capital. “We found a natural fit with Fluence, impressed by their early and material commitment to domestic battery cell sourcing and their focus on placing supply chains close to demand. With this partnership, we have taken a step forward together with Fluence as a pioneer in domestic BESS offerings, which in turn serves as a stabilizing force for our BESS investments in the United States.”

“We are pleased to support Excelsior in the implementation of 2.2 GWh Gridstack Pro. This deal is a testament to the competitiveness of US-made battery storage systems,” said John Zahurancik, Fluence President, Americas. “Excelsior and other customers see U.S.-made products as a valuable way to reduce uncertainties in their projects while supporting U.S. jobs and local economic activity.”

Announced in October, the lithium-ion Gridstack Pro is expected to qualify as domestic content under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).
