Bee Solar and Huasun sign MoU to develop a gigawatt-scale European supply chain – SPE

The Italian company and Huasun Energy are working together to produce wafers, cells and modules for the European market, with the aim of being the most cost-competitive in Europe.

Bee Solar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Huasun Energy to jointly develop the production of wafers, cells and photovoltaic modules at gigawatt scale, as part of a joint strategy to drive a sustainable Made in Italy energy supply chain .

“Bee Solar and Huasun Energy will combine their expertise and resources to create a fully automated and advanced industrial project positioned to be the most cost-competitive in Europe,” the Italian company said, explaining that Huasun Energy will contributing with its experience in the production of heterojunction cell technology and production capabilities at wafer, cell and module level.

Bee Solar, founded in 2022 by Viscontini/Enerpoint (Italy), Stephan Padlevski/Andromeda (France) and Hartmut Nussbaumer (Germany), will contribute with its insight into the Italian, European and American photovoltaic markets.

“Heterojunction technology is an attractive solution for successfully producing cells and photovoltaic modules with the highest efficiency,” said Paolo Rocco Viscontini, President of Bee Solar.

“The strategic partnership with Bee Solar is in line with our strategy and intention to strengthen our presence in Europe,” said Tommy Xu, Strategy VP, Overseas Expansion Planning Department of Huasun.

China and Italy are accelerating cooperation in the renewable energy sector after a cooperation agreement between the two countries was signed in July. In this context, the Italian Ministry of Enterprise (Mimit) and FuturaSun signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to “explore investment opportunities at an industrial site in Italy to produce solar cells and panels for distribution to markets around the world.”

In July, China and Italy signed a three-year action plan and several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) during Giorgia Meloni’s first visit to China since becoming Prime Minister of Italy.

Negotiations between the two countries also include a possible Dongfeng Motor factory in Italy and other business deals in the automotive sector.
