Swedish CIGS thin-film solar cell manufacturer Midsummer has announced that a four-terminal perovskite CIGS tandem solar cell, developed in collaboration with researchers from Prof. Yang Yang’s laboratory at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), has an impressive efficiency of 24, has reached 9%.The cell consists of a top layer of wide bandgap perovskite cells and a bottom layer of Midsummer’s CIGS cell. The project demonstrates the feasibility of creating a tandem cell based on a pioneering manufacturing process developed at Midsummer using Midsummer’s flagship CIGS cell manufacturing machine, DUO. The production system can manufacture high-quality CIGS solar cells measuring…
The budget for auction round 6 (AR6) will be the “largest ever”, set at £1.025 billion. Image: British Parliament (flicker). During yesterday’s Spring Budget announcement (March 6), Chancellor of the Exchequer Jeremy Hunt announced that the 2024 budget for the Contracts for Difference (CfD) auction will be set at over £1 billion. Later confirmed by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), the budget for auction round 6 (AR6) will be the “largest ever”, set at £1.025 billion. Funding for AR6 will open on March 27, 2024 and will be split into technology groups called ‘pots’. These are…
The American Clean Power Association (ACP) collaborates with a technology company for sustainable financing Crux to make clean energy tax credit transfers more accessible to the clean energy sector. Starting May 2, ACP’s more than 800 member companies can access reduced transaction fees on the Crux platform. Crux is changing the way clean energy projects are financed in the United States, starting with transactions for the new transferable clean energy tax credits created by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The new transferable tax share market allows, for the first time, clean energy developers and producers to sell their tax credits…
Utility scale distributor RPformerly known as RPCS, will become the exclusive distribution partner of Huaxing Cable USA products to the United States. Huaxing from China offers lines of UL certified conductors, PV wire, MV cable and concentric cable. “Between the policy tailwinds provided by the Inflation Reduction Act and rising tax growth projections, we see an important role for Huaxing in accelerating the energy transition in the United States,” said Jack Yang, CEO of Huaxing. “The end-to-end, value-added approach that RP brings to distributing system balancing solutions makes them the ideal partner to make our products work in utility-scale projects.”…
The rising popularity of solar energy is undeniable, and for good reason. It provides an endless, renewable energy source and offers homeowners and business owners significant savings over time. If you’re considering this greener energy alternative for your Colorado Springs home and wondering how to get solar panels, this guide is for you.
Reduce Your Energy Bills: Install solar panels to significantly cut down on electricity costs. Eco-Friendly Choice: Solar panels help in lowering your carbon footprint. Boosts Property Value: The addition of solar panels can enhance the value of your property. Solar energy, harnessed from the sun’s rays, presents a vast potential for energy supply. Just one hour of sunlight on Earth can theoretically meet global energy needs for an entire year. Although we only capture a fraction of this energy, the use of solar panels has become increasingly significant for the environment and household economics. Initially criticized for being costly and…
Researchers from Germany’s Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE) developed models to assess and compare two circular water strategies in a 5 GW passivated emitter and rear (PERC) solar cell factory. They claim this is the first published ‘comprehensive water model’ for a solar cell factory. The team compared two freshwater and wastewater flow scenarios with a water strategy in a conventional PERC cell manufacturing plant. The first scenario, known as low polluted wastewater (LCR), reuses rinse water so that it can be discharged indirectly in accordance with regulations. “In addition, certain wastewater streams were used as freshwater for downstream…
The 67.4% increase marks the second consecutive twelve-month period in which the pipeline has increased by this amount. Image: Anesco. A report published today (2 May) by industry association RenewableUK found that the total pipeline of battery projects has reached 95.6 GW, an increase of two-thirds on last year. The increase of 67.4% (38.5 GW) from 57.1 GW is the second consecutive twelve-month period in which the pipeline has increased by this percentage. The total includes battery projects that are operational, under construction, approved or planned. RenewableUK’s director of future electricity systems, Barnaby Wharton, said: “It’s great to see the…
Brimfield Community Unit School District (CUSD) in Brimfield, Illinois, has chosen the Nexamp community solar program to reduce annual electricity costs and add more renewable energy to Ameren’s electric grid. The 20-year contract will save the K-12 district more than $22,000 annually. Credit: Nexamp The 3 MW community solar tracking project, called Jubilee Solar and located on the school grounds just outside the high school baseball field, will be a visual reminder of the role the district plays in environmental sustainability and the health of the larger community. Brimfield CUSD will receive an allocation of 23% of the total project,…
Carbon Data Company Sylvera has unveiled a new feature in its platform aimed at improving the ability to filter and compare carbon projects in a simplified and faster way.Until now, project information and data have not only been fragmented but also difficult to analyze when assessing projects side-by-side, leading to a lack of transparency on key issues such as quality and credit availability. Investors interested in a full picture of a project have often had to work at a spreadsheet level that does not provide the full picture or is not standardized in a way that allows comparison with other…
