The government has closed a solar panel company due to fraudulent sales practices aimed at retirees. London-based Trident West Industries Ltd was closed down at the High Court in London last week after 80 complaints were made to Trading Standards and Action Fraud. Sales staff made cold calls and unsolicited home visits to retirees who already had solar installations, persuading them to purchase new parts or maintenance and fraudulently promising refunds on government subsidies. The complaints also concerned Star Solar Ltd, which was headed by Terry Smith, who was also a director of Trident West Industries, but which went into…
Fronius and MidNite Solar have announced that company testing has been completed, showing that the products are fully compatible Fronius GEN24 string inverter and Midnite Rosie battery inverter. The efficiency of the GEN24 string inverter allows self-consumption, while the AC-coupled Midnite battery inverter gives homeowners the option to connect a low-voltage DC battery to keep lights on during critical power conditions. Advantages of AC coupling: Easy to retrofit into existing systems There is no need to add a separate solar panel Supports future expansion of battery-based OR string inverter systems The two companies will hold a webinar next year January…
Longi Green Energy, JinkoSolar and JA Solar each posted significant losses in the third quarter due to continued price declines and high inventory levels, raising concerns among analysts about oversupply and margin pressure in the PV supply chain. November 7, 2025 Vincent Shaw and Valerie Thompson Image: 钉钉, Wikimedia Commons, CC BY-SA 4.0 Longi green energy posted a net loss of CNY833.6 million ($115 million) in the third quarter of 2025, down from CNY1.26 billion a year earlier, as weak demand and pricing pressure weighed on margins. Revenue fell 9.8% year-on-year to CNY 18.10 billion. During the first three quarters,…
In a new weekly update for pv magazineOPIS, a Dow Jones company, provides a brief overview of the major price trends in the global PV industry. November 7, 2025 OPIS Chinese TOPCon cell prices have fallen this week due to weaker trade interest in the export market and ongoing renegotiations of existing India-linked contracts due to the country’s recently announced anti-dumping duties on Chinese solar cells. According to the OPIS Solar Weekly Report published on November 4, FOB China TOPCon M10 cell prices were assessed 1.22% lower at $0.0405/W, with price guidance between $0.0400-0.0414/W. India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies…
The Chinese company says its new EnerCube product is designed for commercial and industrial applications. It has a capacity of 2,250 kWh. November 7, 2025 Lior Kahana The EnerCube Image: Vilion Chinese energy services company Vilion has released a new modular containerized battery energy storage system. It’s called the EnerCube and is designed for commercial and industrial applications, including industrial and office parks, solar plus storage plus EV charging stations and support services for grid operators. “It features highly efficient charging and discharging capabilities, along with a fast response time of less than 200ms,” the company said in a statement.…
India’s solar industry is expanding at a pace unmatched in global clean energy. EUPD Research estimates that the country will install 213 GW of new solar capacity between 2025 and 2029, averaging 42 GW a year. Yet manufacturing capacity is rising far faster, creating a structural surplus that could redefine global supply and pricing. By 2030, India’s module manufacturing capacity is projected to exceed 280 GW, with cell capacity jumping from 26 GW in 2025 to 171 GW, a 6.6-fold increase. Wafer production could reach 45 GW, indicating deeper upstream integration. This growth is underpinned by policies such as the…
Cooperation agreement to promote solar panels for satellite power systems Idemitsu Kosan and Source Energy Company are working together to jointly develop solar panel products for use in high LEO and MEO satellite applications. The project will combine Idemitsu’s CIGS thin-film solar cell technology with Source Energy’s solar modules and deployable array development capacity. The announcement comes amid increasing demand for satellite power systems and a shortage of high-quality solar cells. This effort aims to provide a safe alternative to the gallium arsenide cells currently central to the satellite sector and which pose significant geopolitical and supply chain risks. Idemitsu’s…
Italy’s 2026 budget law limits the “Iperammortamento2026” tax incentive to European-made heterojunction (HJT) and tandem perovskite solar panels. Experts say the move gives Italian manufacturer 3Sun a strategic advantage and warn that the exclusion of tunnel oxide-passivated contact (TOPCon) and back-contact (BC) technologies could distort competition and create market inefficiencies. November 7, 2025 Sergio Matalucci By pv magazine Italy With the publication of the 2026 budget law, the Italian government has made changes to the “Iperammortamento” tax incentive, which encourages companies to invest in new assets, including PV systems related to energy efficiency projects. The law limits eligibility to European-made…
Cambridge Photon Technology, a deep-tech spin-out from the University of Cambridge focusing on materials technology, has raised £1.56 million to commercialize its ‘photon multiplier’ technology. The patented technology developed by Cambridge Photon Technology (CPT) is a drop-in solution that allows existing silicon solar panels to generate more power, the company said. The pre-Series A funding round raised £926,000 of equity investment with a £630,000 grant from Innovate UK’s Investor Partnerships: Clean Energy and Climate Technologies programme. The equity investment came from international companies: Cambridge Enterprise Ventures, Spectrum Impact, Tybourne Capital, Providence Investment Company and SourceSquared. Cambridge Enterprise’s involvement made the Innovate…
Researchers in India have developed a new layout design tool to identify optimal locations for installing solar panels on undulating terrain. The tool consists of two components: a filter module that excludes unsuitable areas of land, and an algorithm that determines the optimal distribution of panels over the remaining usable area. The approach was demonstrated at a test site in India. November 7, 2025 Lior Kahana A group of researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology have developed a new algorithm to optimize the placement of photovoltaic (PV) panels on undulating hilly terrain. The Python-based tool was tested on real…
