Ciel & Terre has completed a 120 MWP floating solar project in India, with various business firms in Engineering and Design, including Rockbout anchoring and a reinforced fiberglass -inverter. The system also marks the first use of the French PV specialist from Spin welding in its floating platform mass samplage.
Ciel & Terre, a supplier of Floating PV Solutions in France, has announced the completion of a 120 MWP floating solar panel in Opwareshwar in Madhya Pradesh the largest project in India. It developed the project in collaboration with L&T and SJVN Green Energy Ltd. To generate strength for Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Ltd. (Rumsl).
The floating tanning factory, built on the freshwater reservoir of Overschareshwar-Dam, includes 20% (210 hectares) of the total water surface of 1060 hectares. It is expected to help to compensate more than 1.13,406 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year.
The installation has 407,699 Hydelio Floats (Air Optim 1400-3 model) in an arrangement of three rows. The factory consists of 14 individual islands, each with a capacity of 8.5 MWp.
Ciel & Terre used his newly developed “Rock Bolt Anchoring” technology to handle the hard rock surface. It has also used a tailor -made floating inverter based on reinforced fiber optic polymer.
“The fiber -reinforced plastic (FRP) ship is approved for implementation on rivers and lakes and can wear more than 40 tons, which is ideal for power transformers, inverters and switch devices,” said Ciel & Terre. “It offers a ratio of 50% higher strength weight than steel, while it is 30% lighter and costs less.”
The floating system is built with spin welding to guarantee leak-proof joints. The technology houses the thermal expansion of floats during high temperatures to prevent penetration and cracks in the float.
“Various challenges were confronted during this project, such as landscaping, floods, moderate winds to gusts of wind, waves and weathered rock surfaces,” said Deepak Ushadevi, Ciel et Terre India’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer. “We found solutions, adjusted and preserved every time. This experience not only strengthened our team, but also strengthened our ability to deliver larger and complex projects with even greater efficiency and daring innovations.”
Ciel & Terre have completed more than 10 projects in India with cumulative capacity of 425+ MWP. Worldwide it has more than 325 projects in more than 30 countries with 3.2 GWP cumulative installed capacity and other projects among different development phases.
