German Renewable Energy Company 1Comma5 ° has unveiled a new power storage system that has been designed to allow private households without PV systems to benefit from fluctuating electricity prices on the stock exchange.

A spokesperson for the company told PV -Magazine That the PowerHarvester Lithium Iron Phosphate Storage System is supplied in six power classes, with storage capacities ranging from 7.7 kWh to 27.2 kWh.

The proposed selling price of the system starts at € 8,900 ($ 10,233) and includes installation, the Heartbeat AI Energy Manager and a smart meter needed to take advantage of variable electricity prices, said the company established in Hamburg at the launch.

Customers also have to pay a monthly software costs of € 9.90 for the energy trading function and register for the dynamic electricity rate of 1Momma5 ° ‘Dynamic Pulse’.

“The PowerHarvester, checked by Heartbeat AI, automatically buys electricity when the price on the electricity exchange is particularly low and makes the electricity available for the customer later or sells it when the price is particularly high,” said 1Momma5 ° CEO Philipp Schröder.

Based on data from nearly 50,000 energy systems, the electricity costs can fall by a maximum of 50%, 1Momma5 ° said.

For customers with electricity consumption of more than 10,000 kWh per year – higher than the average for private households – the investment can fruit within six years, the company said. Households with heat pumps, electric vehicles or other large loads can reach this level, and savings can further increase with planned grid load flexibilisation, added 1 -comma5 °.

The company said that the battery system is also taking away an important limitation. The energy management system, made possible by digital measuring technology, now offers immediate compatibility with all inverters, loading systems and heat pumps. Previously, only selected manufacturers were compatible with the Hartslag AI system.

“The real problem with the energy transition is not cheaply produced electricity due to wind and solar energy, but rather a rigid grid without smart meters and without sufficient storage capacity,” said 1 -comma5 ° Chief Product Officer Jannik Schall. “Instead of subsidizing the old, rigid energy system with billions, politicians must continue to work on promoting full flexibilization and the rollout of smart meters, and also releasing small electricity storage systems of scheduling costs, which would further improve economic efficiency.”
