As the committee of the house Ways and Means begins to plan The 2025 budget of the government under President Trump, 21 House Republicans have signed a letter with the request from committee chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) to maintain current energy tax credits.

Led by Rep. Andrew Garbarino (R-NY) reflects the letter feelings of a similar last summer that was signed by 18 house republicans that speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) asked to keep the IRA.

“As members of the Republican conference of the house, we write to give priority to prioritizing the affordability of energy consumption for American families and to keep our current path to energy dominance in the midst of efforts to withdraw or reform the current energy tax credits,” is the letter of March 9.

The Republicans note that the long -term certainty of the IRA is crucial for developers to plan and finance from home -grown American energy projects.

“Many credits were established over the course of a period of ten years, so that energy developers could plan with these tax stimuli in mind. These timelines are familiar when it comes to capital allocation, planning and project obligations, all of which would be endangered by premature credit phase or additional restrictive mechanisms such as restrictive transferability, ”the Republicans write.

The IRA has also received proactive support from 17 state lawyers -general, who wrote a letter to congress leaders who asked them to protect the legislation at the beginning of the year.
