The European Union will continue its hydrogen initiatives, work with customers to design infrastructure and support production using European-made equipment, said Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission. She too said that European hydrogen investments are expected to increase by 140% by 2024, with Europe contributing almost a third of global investments in electrolysers. The European Commission also plans to hold its second hydrogen auction, offering €1.2 billion in financing, and the new executive body will present the Clean Industrial Deal in its first 100 days.

Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences The aforementioned trust in project managers, the risk-benefit perception and the experience with green hydrogen significantly influence the acceptance of green hydrogen plants. Their new one studypublished in Renewable and sustainable energy assessmentsshows that information positively influences acceptance, while consultation has the opposite effect. The authors said citizens are not against hydrogen production and prefer information over participation, recommending that decision makers establish guidelines to maintain public trust.

BASF Environmental Catalyst and Metal Solutions (ECMS) has opened a new laboratory in Hannover, Germany, for research into platinum group metal (PGM)-containing catalysts for anodes and cathodes. The laboratory will focus on the development of catalyst-coated membranes (CCMs) for water electrolysis, with the specific goal of creating low-iridium catalysts. This research aims to reduce the use of iridium in proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolysers, addressing both its scarcity and cost, while maintaining electrolyzer efficiency and sustainability to make green hydrogen production more economically feasible . said BASF.

Desfathe Greek gas network operator, has reportedly collaborated with five transmission companies from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovenia to develop a hydrogen transmission network stretching from Greece to Germany, according to Greek media reports.

The Appalachian Regional Clean Hydrogen Hub (Arch2) has addressed concerns from community members in West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Arch2 expressed hope that adversaries will remain open to working together to meet local needs and work toward a prosperous future for Appalachia.

UL Solutions has certified Ohmium International’s industrial hydrogen generator, the first of its kind. The certification followed an evaluation of Ohmium’s proton exchange membrane electrolysis module and systems – models LCC, LWC, LHC, LPC, LTC and UIB – under UL 2264A, a standard that sets requirements for assessing the safety of water electrolysis hydrogen generators.
