SolBank 3.0 from e-STORAGE

Canadian Solar subsidiary e-STORAGE announced this week its intention to open a 3 GWh energy storage manufacturing plant in Shelbyville, Kentucky. e-STORAGE will operate from an existing 1 million feet2 factory that would previously house EnerVenue’s metal-hydrogen battery production, as first confirmed Energy storage news. EnerVenue has left the operating contract after “production delays”.

e-STORAGE will invest $712 million in the facility, creating 1,500 jobs. The site will produce lithium iron phosphate (LFP) solutions for non-residential use. The facility also has its own R&D laboratory. Production should begin in late 2025, with full production expected in early 2026.

“We are proud to be part of the growing energy technology transformation in the U.S., and we are pleased to announce our investment in a new, state-of-the-art industrial battery cell, module and packaging facility in Shelbyville, Kentucky. that will employ more than 1,500 Kentuckians,” said Colin Parkin, president of e-STORAGE.
