Adapture Renewables Inc. crossed the finish line three months early with the completion of a 67 MW utility-scale solar project in Hunt County, Texas.

The company completed construction and commenced commercial operations of the facility that will generate renewable energy to help meet the growing demand for electricity in the wake of data center growth. The site will support an unnamed corporate buyer, a Fortune 50 company, as part of its broader sustainability goals to achieve net zero targets.

“Completing the project ahead of schedule reflects the hard work of our team and partners, and highlights our commitment to advancing renewable energy infrastructure across the country,” said Thomas Houghton, CEO of Adapture Renewables, a developer of utility-scale solar energy and energy storage. owner and operator.

Located within the ERCOT market, the project covers 25 hectares and includes more than 130,000 solar panels. It is expected to supply approximately 120 GWh of electricity annually. This comes at a crucial time for the development of renewable energy. The rapid growth of data centers, driven by advances in AI and cloud computing, as well as increasing demand for EV charging infrastructure, is putting unprecedented pressure on the electric grid. Locations like these play a critical role in meeting this demand and ensuring businesses and communities have access to reliable, cost-effective energy solutions.

The project entered commercial operations three months ahead of schedule under Adapture Renewables’ first-ever Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA), overcoming development challenges including the supply chain impact of the COVID pandemic, as well as Winter Storm Uri, which hit the region swept through the region. 2021. Timely procurement of materials and the joint efforts of Adapture teams and partners played a key role in the success of the project.
