Combined with a portfolio of ground screws, piles and ballasted foundations, the partnership between Terrasmart and First Solar can provide a domestically produced ground-mount offering for the U.S. solar market because the systems are constructed with 100% American-made structural steel and iron. and use a majority of domestically produced components. Customers who combine Terrasmart products with the First Solar Series 7 TR1 can meet the domestic content requirements of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

“We are grateful for this long-term partnership with First Solar,” said Terrasmart President Ed McKiernan. “Working closely on joint product development and customization will deliver strong mutual benefits for our customers and the U.S. solar industry as a whole.”

Terrasmart foundations specialize in addressing different ground conditions, using specialist piles and ballast systems to make solar energy available to a wider range of challenging terrains, climates and sensitive locations. First Solar has the ability to produce 100% domestic modules in the United States.

“Working together, Terrasmart and First Solar will provide US developers with a clearer and more flexible route to securing the 10% domestic content bonus credit, maximizing project savings and ROI,” said McKiernan.

Terrasmart focused its SAT integration efforts on TerraTrak 1P and focused its module mounting bracket system on keeping the Series 7 in different locations to meet the project’s charging requirements. The companies tested the products to ensure that the rack and module integration meets reliability and electrical safety standards.
