Developer Innova has announced signing a 40-year Power Aell Agreement (PPA) for the combined 15MWP output of his CEFN and Wrexham sun farms.

The PPA was signed with DWR Cymru (Welsh Water) to feed his five Fords sewerage treatment. Both CEFN and Wrexham zonne plants are in the neighborhood, and as part of the regulation and associated works DWR Cymru will also upgrade its internal raster infrastructure to improve the reliability of the power supply.

Wrexham Solar Park, which has collaborated a 5.7 MW Zonne-Array with a 10 MW Battery Energy Storage System (Bess), was given the planning in November 2022. MW and a Bess of 10 MW. Innova said that the construction of both sites will start “soon”.

The combined solar capacity of both locations will feed the sewage treatment work, with surplus electricity being generated to power other locations with DWR Cymru.

According to Andrew Dixon, head of Energy Efficiency at DWR Cymru, the PPA will make “significant” reductions in the net energy costs of the company, adding that the generation from the sun factories of Innova will be good for about 3% of the annual electricity use from DWR Cymru.

Andrew Peyman, head of the Energy Sale of Innova, said: “The PPA will not only supply DWR Cymru to the delivery of locally produced renewable electricity and price certainty in the long term, but the agreement ensures the Wrexham and CEFN projects for it . “

Innova sells Solar to Schroders

After Innova has announced the successful sale of its 27.5 MW Ducklington Solar Project, the PPA has announced to investment firm Schroders Greencoat, the fifth solar project that the last of the developer bought, which exchanged the total capacity at 110mwp.

That news came only a few days after Innova had assured the planning stamping of Doncaster Council for the Almhome Energy Hub Project, a 49.9 MW solar installation together with a 1,025GW/2.05GWH BES permission to date.
