Dubai established developer Amea Power has broken the ground on a 50 MW solar project in the Ivory coast.

The Bondoukou Solar PV project, located in the northeastern Gontougo region, is implemented by Amea Goutougo, a project company that is registered in the Ivory Coast and fully owned by Amea Power.

The $ 60 million project is financed by the development banks of the private sector FMO and DEG. Once operational, it will provide energy to the flow of around 358,000 households and it will be the first operational active of Amea Power in the country.

The company says it has another 50 MW solar project in the Ivory Coast that is currently in advanced stages of development.

At the end of 2023, Ivory Coast had used a total of 46 MW Zonne -Zonne energy, according to figures from the International Renewable Energy Agency (Irena).

Last April, one 37.5 MW Zonne factory was inaugurated in the north of the country, with the work that is now going on to increase its capacity to 80 MW. The announcement followed the ivory coast government that signed an agreement with infrastructure investor PFO Africa for one 52 MW Solar factory, in the northwest of the country, last February.

Last year too, the Ministry of Mijnen, Oil and Energy Shared Planning for 12 solar stands with a total capacity of 678 MW By 2030, to be in accordance with an objective of the government to increase the share of renewable energy in the electricity mix to 45% by 2030.
