Carrier, a US-based supplier of heating solutions, has launched a new series of air-to-water heat pumps for residential buildings.

“This marks the first domestic hot water solution of the company integrated in an air-to-water heat pump product for North America and offers an advanced, sustainable solution for homeowners and builders looking for energy-efficient alternatives for home heating, cooling and domestic hot water,” the company said in a statement. “It makes versatile integration possible for radiation heating, forced air and cooled panels.”

The DWH A2W heat pump uses R32 (Difluoromethane) as a coolant and reportedly reaches a performance coefficient (COP) of 4.9. Ruis levels vary between DB (A) 52 and DB (A) 56.

The system includes an outdoor unit that makes it easier to use it for new construction, as well as retrofits, according to the manufacturer.

“The system is set up to include the heat pump, hot water tanks, an indoor control panel and all main fittings that are required for the installation, all under a single part number,” the company explained. “This extensive approach simplifies the selection process considerably and eliminates the need for contractors to determine and include the required fittings. In addition, the system offers multiple DWH tank sizes for all A2W heat pump capacities, making it a versatile solution for a wide range of applications. “

Carrier has not unveiled any more technical details about the new product.
