Gentari Renewables Australia, a subsidiary of the state-owned companies in Malaysia, has published Petronas from the state-owned company to continue with the 243 MW DC-linked Maryvale Solar and Battery Energy Storage Project.

The Maryvale projectBuilt on a 360-hectare site near Wellington, about 37 km southeast of Dubbo in Central Western New South Wales (NSW), comprises approximately 243 MW Solar PV capacity DC-linked with approximately 145 MW/ 350 MWH of battery energy storage capacity.

The construction of the project is due to the end of this month, with commercial activities that are expected to start at the beginning of 2027. Once completed, the project will provide approximately 243 MW of clean energy during peak operation with approximately 2.4 hours of energy storage, whereby the battery can send energy, even when the solar resource is not available.

Gentari Chief Renewables Officer Low Kian Min said that by combining solar generation with energy storage, the project ensures the delivery of long-term green electricity, improving the reliability and stability of the network. The maximum export capacity of the project in the National Electricity Market is 172 MW and can import up to 91 MW.

“By integrating advanced solar and storage technologies, we strive to offer reliable renewable energy and at the same time support the carbon of the grid,” said Min, and noted that the NSW and Australia project will help achieve their goals for clean energy consumption.

The Maryvale project is one of the first hybrid projects for solar batteries that have a Long -term agreement for energy storage (Ltesa) via the NSW government auctions.

AEMO Services said that the project was selected because of the ability to offer financial benefits in the long term to NSW electricity consumers, and the ability to deliver significant reliability contributions to the energy system.

PCL construction has received the contract from Engineering, Procurement and Construction (Procurement and Construction) while Trinasolar and Contemporary Amperex Technology Australia (CATL) deliver the equipment. A grid connection agreement has been signed with the essential energy of NSW network service provider,

The Maryvale project is part of the growing Australian portfolio of Gentari. The company said it has built and connected around 422 MW in the last 24 months and has managed a 746 MW portfolio. The development frame comprises the 85 MW Barnawartha Solar Farm and 64 MW / 128 MWH Battery Project in Victoria.
