Dutch start-up develops sodium-ion battery technology for solar colocation

Moonwatt, based in Amsterdam, is set to a mission to develop sodium battery technology that is optimized for colocation with solar energy plants on utility scale, because the storage tries to make more scalable, more cost-competive and sustainable.

“We believe it is time to build the first” energy “made by energy professionals for energy customers, starting with an empty sheet of paper instead of re-using the inheritance of the EV sector,” says Valentin Rota, co-founder and CCO in Moonwatt, says ESS News.

Moonwatt is an integrator of the energy storage system. The team develops, designs and supplies string battery housings, string hybrid inverters and battery management systems and site management. It buys its sodium ion cells from all over the world.
